Highlight Progression
Two dedicated highlight colors (Pale Peach and Ivory Cream) create natural light-catching surfaces on cheekbones, knuckles, and brow ridges. We’ve also included Ruddy Pink for adding life to cheeks, lips, and ears, plus Cool Shadow for temperature contrast in deep folds. Application Technique & Layering
Start with a proper zenithal prime: black base coat, gray from 45 degrees, white from directly overhead. This creates your value structure before color touches the model. Our SlapChop skin paints are designed to preserve this foundation.

Thin each shade slightly with water or medium (roughly 1:1 for first layers). Apply your mid-tone across all skin areas in smooth, even coats, letting the zenithal show through. Compatible Primers & Surfaces
The slapchop skin technique demands specific primer preparation. We recommend matte finish primers—either rattle-can or airbrush—in true black and pure white. Avoid satin or gloss finishes, which prevent proper paint adhesion and obscure the value contrast you’re building.
Material Compatibility
Our skin tone paints adhere beautifully to plastic (polystyrene, resin, PVC), metal (white metal, pewter), and 3D-printed miniatures (both resin and FDM). Clean models thoroughly with soap and water before priming. For resin and metal, we recommend a quick scrub with an old toothbrush to remove mold release agents.
